ISAIAH 1
Isaiah 1 is almost hard to read it is so full of rebukes from the Lord. Israel is in so much sin and rebellion against the Lord that they are on the verge of destruction. Just why are they in such a state? How did they fall so far?
What does the Lord say is their problem?
7. Because of your detestable disobedience your country lies desolate, your cities are burned with fire; your land, strangers devour it in your very presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by aliens.
8. And the daughter of Zion (Jerusalem) is left like a deserted booth in a vineyard, like a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, like a besieged city (spared, but in the midst of desolation).
9. Except the Lord of hosts had left us a very small remnant of survivors, we should have been as Sodom and Gomorrah.
What is Sodom and Gomorrah accept complete destruction. How does this compare to the US? The US started out as a Christian Nation. It was founded on Biblical principals. The Constitution was written by holy men. They prayed about everything. Now prayer is considered a crime by some in the government. The Bible is outlawed in our classrooms as books on homosexuality are welcomed. Who is to blame for our country’s desolation?
The church is good at talking about all the sin but never changes their “detestable disobedience.” They are too busy pointing the finger at those who do walk with the Lord in obedience as they go where they want to go and eat what they want to eat never thinking they are in the flesh and ignoring the will of God for them.
The Lord says in verse 6, that no one has troubled to seek a remedy. They did not bother seeking the Lord to know why all the desolation was upon them. They ignored and left Jerusalem deserted.
He says to them in verse 19, “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land. But if you refuse you will be devoured by the sword for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.”
How is the Church disobedient? They don’t have time to obey and think it is normal to live that way. They cannot help not serving the Lord. They cannot help not reading when they are supposed to for everyone does that so it must be normal. What do they really think of those who walk in obedience who dwell in Mount Zion?
Hosea 9:7…The prophet is considered a crazed fool and the man who is inspired is treated as if mad or a fanatic, because of the abundance of your iniquity and because the enmity, hostility and persecution are great.
So, what happens in Isaiah 1 and will happen to the US?
27. Zion shall be redeemed with justice, and her (returned) converts with righteousness – uprightness and right standing with God.
28. But the crushing and destruction of rebels and sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the Lord shall be consumed. Amp.
