PSALM 28
6. Blessed be the Lord, because He has heard the voice of my supplications.
7. The Lord is my strength and my (impenetrable) shield; my heart trusts, relies on and confidently leans on Him, and I am helped; therefore, my heart greatly rejoices and with my song will I praise Him. Amp.
This is a Psalm of David. He starts out crying out to the Lord to hear him and not let him be dragged away with the wicked. He may be in a cave hiding from his enemies but looking for a place to pour out his heart to the Lord. He complains about the evil all around him and asks for judgment.
But then he knows the Lord has heard him. He changes his tone. He is thankful that the Lord is his strength and shield. He gets his power from the Lord. He gets his protection from the Lord. If David had never had to find shelter in a cave, he may never have experienced the Lord the way he did.
Now he knows the Lord is his strength and his shield. Now his heart trusts, relies on and is confident in the Lord. He knows that he has been helped. He can now rejoice and sing his songs of praise to the Lord.
Before, his eyes were on the enemy. Now his eyes are on the Lord. He can see that he is helped. The most important fact is that his heart now trusts. How come he trusts?
He called out to the Lord for help, and He answered him. He experienced this for himself and will never forget it. That is the very essence of trials. The Lord knows what we need and supplies it in a trial. If we endure it the right way, we will get the answers we need. It will turn out to be a blessing for us. He draws near to us and helps us in very special ways we never forget. That is what we need. We need trust. Trust is faith. Our faith must grow. Without faith we will not stand.
Faith will always be tested, and the outcome will be maturity. That is why we are to rejoice for our trials. Trials produce patient endurance. Patient endurance produces maturity of character, (Romans 5:3-4).
When Jesus returns, times will be very hard to endure. We need the trials now so we can say with David my heart trusts and I am helped. We must look the storm in the face and say with confidence, “The Lord has heard the voice of my supplications.” That is maturity.

😊❤️ I am doing a study of the book of Psalms and it’s wonderful to read and understand the pattern and insights of the Psalms. Lamentations and crying out to God for help and then praise and adoration for a faithful God who comes through for our children. 😊
There is so much to learn. It never stops. The Lord is always showing Himself strong in the Psalms! 💜🌹🩷
Amen 🙏🏾 ❤️🥰
