PSALM 62

8. Trust, lean on, rely on and have confidence in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him. God is a refuge for us – a fortress and a high tower. Selah!

I just read this in my Streams in the Desert devotional.

“The word trust is the heart word of faith. It is the Old Testament word, the word given to the early and infant stage of faith. The word faith expresses more the act of the will, the word belief the act of the mind or intellect, but trust is the language of the heart. The other has reference more to a truth believed or a thing expected.

Trust implies more than this, it sees and feels, and leans upon a person, a great true, living heart of love.”

This is telling us that we must draw close enough to the Lord that we fall in love with Him and know just Who He is. He wants us to pour our hearts out to Him. Then we can expect a response from Him that will increase our faith in every way.

He wants all of us. That means we love Him with all of our heart, mind and strength. That would cover what is said in my book. Then we will run to Him in times of desperation knowing He will be there with all we need.

Yes, there will be delays and tests. But if we learn patience and wait His timing we will be blessed. He is full of mercy and loving kindness. He will always make a way for us and show us His goodness. He will pay us back amply for any pain we endure for His sake.

Psalm 62:12 Also to You, O Lord, belong mercy, and loving-kindness, for You render to every man according to His work.

  1. He desires to see our faith, it’s the only thing that impresses God.
I like the “trust” point being the seat of faith more than the way we believe, because it also applies obedience; obeying willingly.
