PSALM 16:8-9

8. I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

9. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory (my inner self) rejoices; my body too shall rest and confidently dwell in safety. Amp.

Psalm 16:8-9 goes along with Psalm 91:14. The word set is not in the concordance but the appendix. So, I looked it up in Webster’s Dictionary. The word set means to take a particular direction. Psalm 16:8-9 is saying very close to what Psalm 91:14 says.

David has set the Lord continually before him and because of that fact, the Lord is at his right hand. The blessings from Psalm 91 come from the obedience in Psalm 16.

David says because of him setting the Lord continually before him, he shall not be moved. He is glad in verse 9 and rejoices and knows that he shall physically and spiritually be at rest. And because of this he can confidently dwell in safety. He knows that if he continually sets the Lord before him that he is safe.

This is our safety for the last days and doesn’t it sound like the rapture?

1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so, shall we ever be with the Lord. KJV

The word rapture is not in the Bible, but it means the state of being carried away with joy, love, etc.; ecstasy; an expression of great joy.

The words caught up mean to seize, take for oneself, choose, prefer.

Now isn’t that what happens when we are in God’s presence or should happen? It does happen when there is nothing blocking Him from us. It is a wonderful experience of great joy and a rapturous delight. And isn’t the Lord choosing us for Himself because we have taken refuge in Him and set Him continually before us?

We must be living spiritually raptured or we will miss Him when He sends His angels to gather us.

In Luke 17:26-37 it says that the last days will be like the days of Noah and the days of Lot. It says, “one will be taken, and one will be left.” When the angels came for Lot, they took Lot and his family and left the rest to die. Noah was set safely in the arc and the door was shut.

Matthew 24:29-31 says the Lord is coming back after the sun and moon are darkened and the stars fall, and the powers of heaven are shaken. 31 says He is coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Matthew 24: 31 And He shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. KJV

  1. What a glorious day that will be when we are in the clouds with Him. What beauty we will behold when we are able to gaze into His face and beauty, to finally be with Him, no more pain, sorrow, or tears.
