PSALM 18
- I love You fervently and devotedly, O Lord, my strength.
- The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my keen and firm strength in Whom I will trust and take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.
- I will call upon the Lord, Who is to be praised; so, shall I be saved from my enemies. Amp.
David is crying out to the Lord. He begins with worship. He tells Him how much he loves Him and calls Him his strength. The Lord answered David and delivered him from his enemies. So, we should take note of what David did. This is a pathway to victory.
Then David confessed with his mouth giving God the glory in his life. He said: The Lord is:
- My rock
- My fortress
- My deliverer
- My God
- My firm strength
- My shield
- The horn of my salvation
- My high tower
- In Whom I will trust
- In Whom I will take refuge
David is speaking words of power with faith. Is that what we do, or do we complain that nothing ever works, and we always get beat up by the enemy. Do we cry the blues and say the why me’s? If we complain it is like letting the air out of a balloon. We end up empty.
We must speak these words, but we must believe them and, make them true. What do they mean?
- My Rock. – David is standing on a sure foundation. He won’t fall down because Jesus is holding him up.
2. My fortress – David is in a fort comparable to a castle that is prepared to keep enemies out.
3. My deliverer – He knows from past experience that the Lord will always deliver him.
4. My God – He is telling the world who His God is and giving Him all the glory and credit for all He has done for David.
5. His firm strength – He knows he could never have kept going without the help of the Lord and His strength emotionally and physically.
6. My Shield – He has experienced the wall of fire that is around him to protect him.
7. The Horn of my Salvation – The Lord is the power behind the gift of Salvation the Lord has bestowed upon David.
8. My High Tower – He has a place to run into and climb up high so he is safe, and he can watch and see which direction the enemy comes from.
9. In Whom I will Trust and take Refuge. – David knows the Lord can be trusted because He has never failed him. He has always answered him. He will never forsake him. He will always be there to be a refuge and a safe haven to run to in times of trouble.
Psalm 18:50 Great deliverances and triumphs gives He to His king, and shows mercy and steadfast love to His anointed, to David and his offspring forever. Amp.
Let us be strong and attentive to follow David’s pathway to triumph and victory.
