PSALM 18
25. With the kind and merciful You will show Yourself kind and merciful; with an upright man You will show Yourself upright;
26. With the pure You will show Yourself pure, and with the perverse You will show Yourself contrary.
27. For You deliver an afflicted and humble people but will bring down haughty looks. Amp.
DEFINITIONS
Contrary -d) opposed; unfavorable; opposite in nature.
Here again is evidence of His recompense. If you are kind and merciful you will receive it back from the Lord. If you are not kind and merciful you will receive the Lord’s opposition. He will be unfavorable to the unmerciful. We will reap what we have sown.
28. For You cause my lamp to be lighted and shine; the Lord my God illumines my darkness.
29. For by You I can run through a troop and my God I can leap over a wall.
30. As for God, His way is perfect! The Word of the Lord is tested and tried; He is a shield to all those who take refuge and put their trust in Him. Amp.
We have no light in ourselves. He must give us His light, or we are in darkness. But He can illumine our darkness and will if we let Him. Then we can take on any enemy and win. His way for us is always the best thing for us. It may be hard at first, but it gets easier and easier. But we must always remember that we must go to Him for help. We must have faith in Him knowing it will end perfectly when He is our refuge.
He makes our way perfect giving us hinds feet to help us in the dangerous places. He teaches our hands to war. But we must keep our eyes on Him seeing how great a gift He gives. His gentleness makes us great. I think His gentleness is one of His most wonderful characteristics. I have a problem being gentle. And I see His gentle ways with me, and it melts my heart every day. There is nothing more special to me.
Verses 31-35
All of these verses point to a Wonderful Savior Who wants to share all He is with all of us. He wants to fill us up with Himself and make us more than conquerors. How great is that!
