PSALM 18:21-25
21. For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from My God.
22. For all His ordinances were before me, and I put not away His statutes from me.
David is showing us how important it is to keep the rules and regulations of the Lord. He is testing us all. He will not come down and stop us. He will let us have what we want. If we are convicted in our heart, we should be talking to Him about it, asking for help. Then He will help us, but if we just ignore Him and His ways, He will let us go until everything falls apart.
We must have a sensitive heart to feel the Holy Spirit’s tug. Every time we disobey Him our heart gets harder and eventually too hard to feel His conviction to sin. So, we continue to sin without anything stopping us. Many in the Church have idols before the Lord and have done it for so long, they feel nothing. They have not kept His ordinances or statutes and are in danger of serving the beast without even knowing it.
23. I was upright before Him and blameless with Him, ever on guard to keep myself free from my sin and guilt.
24. Therefore, has the Lord recompensed me according to my righteousness (my uprightness and right standing with Him), according to the cleanness of my hands in His sight. Amp.
We must be like David in verses 23 and 24. He says He was always on guard to keep free from sin. We must be on the lookout and daily check our behavior. If there is something we are concerned about we must bring it to the Lord and talk to Him about it, leaving it there for Him to handle.
If He promises to supply our needs, will He not take care of our sins? Yes, He definitely will! Then the Lord will bless us and reward us for our obedience to His statutes.
Isaiah 24:5 The land and the earth also are defiled under their inhabitants: because they have transgressed the laws, disregarded the statutes, broken the everlasting covenant.
6. Therefore, the curse has devoured the land and the earth, and they who dwell in it suffer the punishment of its guilt; therefore, the inhabitants of the land and the earth are scorched and parched under the curse of God’s wrath and few people are left. Amp.
The Lord is coming back with His recompense. All who have been on guard to keep His commands will be rewarded. Those who have not will suffer His wrath. The earth will be an unbearable place to dwell in on that day. We see the signs all around and know that day is so very near. Today is the day to be on guard and free from sin and guilt.
