PSALM 18:1-19
David starts out Psalm 18 exclaiming his love for the Lord. Then he states the fact that the Lord is his strength and refuge in Whom he places all his trust. Then he states that he will call upon Him Who is worthy to be praised and he will be saved from his enemies.
That is the pattern of faith and prayer. Worship – Confession – Faith.
Our words matter greatly to the Lord. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. David could have easily complained about his situation. His enemies were all around him. But he never lost faith that the Lord would take care of it all.
Then the Lord gets upset and the earthquakes and rocks. The foundations trembled, they moved and were shaken because He was angry. He bowed the heavens and came down. I believe He did actually come down to check things out for Himself like He did Sodom and Gomorrah. He just does it without being seen but not without being felt.
There are times when the earthquakes or there is a violent storm and I wonder if the Lord has come down. And I wonder why!
Then He thunders from on High, almost as though He is talking to David. He delivers David from his strong enemy. He was pleased and delighted with David. We must remember to handle our problems like David so we can be delivered and pleasing to Him.
