PSALM 16
11. You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Amp.
PROVERBS 3
5. Lean on, trust and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind, and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
6. In all your ways know, recognize and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.
The Lord knows we need to know the way to go. He knows how easily we can make a wrong turn. He is showing us the way of safety. How many times do we lean on our own understanding? We know He says not to.
In all of our ways we are to ask Him what to do. Do we come to Him? Do we spend that time alone with Him talking it over until we have covered all of our ways? Do we give Him the chance to direct us and show us the way?
Are we confident in Him with all of our heart and minds knowing that He hears us and will give us the needed help and answers we are asking for? Or are we full of self-confidence always thinking and figuring out the next step?
I know many just think they don’t have the time to ask every detail. I know many just think He really does not expect me to ask Him for help in all of my ways. But that is exactly what the Word of God is telling us to do.
I know that when you get up early and spend time with Him before you must leave for work that He blesses your day with extra strength that an extra hour of sleep would never have given you. He does expect us to bring all of our needs to Him and discuss them. Then we leave the door open for Him to answer in the way that He chooses. He will answer.
Then what does He do? He shows us the path of life. He doesn’t just show us the way in our predicaments, but He shows us a better way. The path of life is one of healing and strength. He not only shows us the answer, but He comes along with us and fills our path with His presence which is full of joy and pleasures that will not end.
He is so wonderful. His ways are different from what our minds tell us to do. But His ways will lead us to such a blessedness that we never anticipated. He loves to bless us when we obey His Word.
But when we do things our own way, He sends leanness to our soul. That place is empty and dry with no joy or heavenly pleasures. He is forever teaching us. We are to pay attention to the dry place and do something about it. We are not to be content to live at a distance from Him.
Psalm 50:23 He who brings an offering of praise and thanksgiving honors and glorifies Me; and he who orders His way aright — who prepares the way that I may show him to him I will show the salvation of God.
