ISAIAH 40

9. O you who bring good tidings to Zion, get up to the high mountain; O you who bring good tidings to Jerusalem. lift up your voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say to the cities of Judah, Behold your God!

10. Behold, the Lord God will come with might, and His arm will rule for Him; behold, His reward is with Him, and His recompense before Him. Amp.

Isaiah 40 has so much to say. It begins by telling Jerusalem that her time of warfare and punishment for her sins are over. Now she is to prepare the way of the Lord’s return. This is her job now to prepare them to see the Lord. He is coming back, and His reward is with Him.

What you have done will come back to you – good or evil. Verse 26 says it again. “Lift up your eyes on high and see!”…He is strong in power. The focus is the Lord. This is all leading up to verses 28-31. – “They that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength.”

We wait upon the Lord in many ways. We wait for Him to show us the next move. We wait upon Him to move in action. We wait upon Him and as we do, we are changed. We are changed because of the power from on High. We must not go our own way with our own mind figuring out the next step. Sometimes He waits just to see if we will wait or show impatience and go ahead of Him.

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. KJV

If we patiently wait upon the Lord and this also means for His return, we will receive a great strength that will see us through to the end. We need to be lifted above the spirit of the world that always tries to drag us down.

His presence will keep and protect us from all harm.
