PSALM 5

3. In the morning you hear my voice, O Lord; in the morning I prepare (a prayer, a sacrifice) for You, and watch and wait for You, to speak to my heart.

David is putting the Lord at the beginning of the day. He knows how to be still and listen. He is asking again for Him to remove his enemies, the boasters and the liars and the deceitful men. They will not be in the Lord’s presence. They will be destroyed, (verse 4-6).

But David is declaring that he will enter the Lord’s house through the abundance of His steadfast love and mercy. This is on the same order as Psalm 36. It is only and always through His steadfast love and mercy that we are allowed to come near to Him.

He is asking Him to make His way level and straight before his face. He is praying for guidance, He is praying a humble prayer and asking the Lord to hold his enemies guilty.

PSALM 5:11 But let those who take refuge and put their trust in You rejoice; let them ever sing and shout for joy, because You make a covering over them and defend them; let those also who love Your name be joyful in You and be in high spirits.

12. …You will surround him with good will (pleasure and favors). Amp.

The way to safety again is spending time with the Lord and doing it the first thing when you start your day. We should never be ashamed to shout for the Lord. It is a very good thing to get excited and rejoice for Jesus. And it is good for those around you. It is wonderfully contagious!
