Colossians 3:15

15. And let peace (soul harmony which comes) from the Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts – deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds – (in that peaceful state) to which (as members of Christ’s) one body you were also called (to live). And be thankful – appreciative, giving praise to God always. Amp.

DEFINITIONS

Rule -c) to govern; prevail.

Peace -c) prosperity, quietness, rest.

Prosper -d) to succeed, thrive, good fortune, wealth.

We are not to rule ourselves but to give control to the Lord. This scripture in Colossians is telling us to not just give it to the Lord but to actually let peace come and rule in our heart. When peace comes into our spirit it brings many things (OT Definition). But this is specifically telling us to be quiet and at rest.

If we let peace rule, then all anxiety and fear are gone. We let prosperity rule. This means we are not to be paupers. If we are His bride, are we not wealthy? How does He want us to be seen? Does He want us to not have enough, always hungry and without the proper necessities?

When the Lord gives, He always gives more than we ask or think. At first, we are to give Him everything. And we go through a period of loss as we deny ourselves pick up our cross and follow Him. But as we are crucified with Christ, we must die with Him and give up control of our life.

As we come to the end of ourselves, desires die. When you are crucified with Christ. You are with Him. All desires fade away because the only One Who matters is present. All else loses its luster in His presence. This is when He gives it all back. This is the “Nevertheless Afterward!”

He gives us all things and expects us to believe all things work for our good so we can rest and not fear because we have given it all to Him.

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do – no matter what it is – in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in dependence upon His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him. Amp.
