PSALM 25

  1. Unto You, O Lord do I bring my life.
  2. O my God, I trust, lean on, rely on and am confident in You; let me not be put to shame or my hope in You be disappointed; let not my enemies triumph over me.

This is a Psalm of David. Again, his enemies are at his heels. How many times does our enemy try his best to bring us down?

4. Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths.

5. Guide me in Your truth and faithfulness and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You do I wait all day long.

We need the Lord to show us His ways because His ways are not our ways. He wants us to change our way of thinking. I always think the worst when He wants me to think of the good. I always want to defend myself when He wants to defend me. I always have a lot to say when He says, “Be Still!”

Satan knows each of us. He has had his helpers attach themselves to our heels that they might learn our weaknesses and know just how to push our buttons. That is why we need to learn the ways of the Lord. His ways are good and peaceful with a good ending always.

We must always be asking for His help in every situation so we can learn. I know years ago I noticed that I would feel an uneasiness inside when I wanted to tell somebody off. Back then I thought it was the right thing at the time. Then I began to notice that feeling and knew He was telling me I was in the flesh and to be still. Then there are times of anger when I know to be quiet and to wait for His peace.

We must always ask the Lord to guide us and to teach us His ways. Verse 9 says, “He leads the humble in what is right, and the humble He teaches His way.” We must be humble with our dependance on Him. He will not answer the proud because they already know it all.

In verse 10 it says, ” All the paths of the Lord are mercy and steadfast love, even truth and faithfulness are they for those who keep His covenant and testimonies.” So, when we are ready to tell someone off, we must remember His paths are mercy, love and truthfulness. Not always easy but He has always treated me that way. He wants me to treat others the same.

Psalm 31:20 In the secret of Your presence You hide them from the plots of men; You keep them secretly in Your pavilion from the strife of tongues.
