PSALM 32
7. You are a hiding place for me; You, Lord, preserve me from trouble: you surround me with songs and shouts of deliverance, Selah (pause, and think calmly of that)!
This is a great Psalm of David. It is a psalm of repentance and deliverance. I love the way the amplified explains verse 5.
5. I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I did not hide. I said I will confess my transgressions to the Lord (continually unfolding the past till all is told). Then You (instantly) forgave me the guilt and iniquity of my sin. Selah!
David is telling the Lord his past. David had a very full and busy life. He had so many wives and children. He had so many battles. He had so many helpers. He had quite a few enemies. He knew He needed to talk to the Lord about it all. Some of it was persecution from families and persecutors. Some was his own sin, some was not. But he needed to confess it to the Lord. Spots must go.
David is pouring out his heart to the Lord. He has hurts that need healing. We must always repent of any bitterness that would stop the healing process. We must forgive. We must know who the enemy is and forgive the person that he used. Satan is our enemy.
After our conversation, He always blesses with songs and shouts of deliverance. That is why it is so important to sing at home. The songs we sing after an encounter with repentance are the best and most powerful there are. We come into a new and deeper place of worship as He sends His presence down deep and fills up the place that was filled with sin and bitterness.
He anoints the songs with a new anointing that sets captives free. We know the words are just for us. After we are cleansed and forgiven, we can sing and shout with freedom because we have been made new.
Now we can sing songs and shouts of deliverance for others. There is power in Praise and Worship. We are like the 3 dancing in the fire with Jesus in the book of Daniel. When others see Jesus in the midst of our painful trial it makes believers out of them!
PSALM 32:11 Be glad in the Lord, O you righteous you who are upright and in right standing with Him; shout for joy, all you upright in heart. Amp.
