PSALM 29:3

3. The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; the God of glory thunders; the Lord is upon many great waters. Amp.

This is a Psalm of David and has been called, “The Song of the Thunderstorm.” The Lord speaks through His creation. He can use anything He wants. He is always trying to get to the heart of His Church. A thunderstorm is telling us He is not pleased. The thunder alone tells us He is speaking loudly.

The Hebrew definition for thundereth (KJV) means be violently agitated, to irritate with anger, make to fret, roar; to tumble.

In many times in Revelation, it talks about the hail, thunder and lightning. It is a storm the Lord is bringing upon the earth for a reason. He is trying to get our attention by saying loudly to take a look around. Something is wrong.

The spirit of the world is all around and has infiltrated the church. I heard a lady in church say, “the church used to say it was not right to watch TV, now it’s Okay.” There is so much compromise that has snuck into the church that has blinded believers.

If we have a personal relationship with the Lord and seek His will for us every day, then He will guide us. He will lead us to a life filled with the Holy Spirit. He will make His way known to you. He will answer and not keep you in the dark. But He will not be mocked. If you are not willing to obey Him, you will not hear Him. He answers the honest heart.

So many spend their time sitting in front of the TV and then wonder why they are empty and joyless, and ready to quit. He requires a hungry heart that desires Him first and He will supply every need. Joyless should never be. The joy of the Lord is our strength.

When trials get heavy, that is the time to praise Him. He will come to you and sit beside you in your suffering. He makes suffering and solitude a beauty indeed. He has a reason for the trial, wonderful reason. It is time to be thankful in the midst of the trial and it will end the sooner.

Do you think when He allowed John to go to Patmos that it was to punish Him or to bless him with the book of Revelation? I believe John never murmured. I believed He knew the Lord well enough that He was never alone. And there was not one on this earth who John would have rather been with.

So many are sad and ready to quit because they have never drawn near to the Lord enough to know Him. They follow what the church does. The church has one foot in the world and that does not work. What is the result but a thunderstorm. What is the storm saying?

No one has enough strength on their own to make it in this world against the powers of darkness. The darkness will eventually win, if you are not close enough to hear the voice of the Lord speak to your heart telling you “This is the way, walk in it,” you will quit for lack of strength.

Hebrews 4:7 …Today if you would hear His voice, and when you hear it, do not harden your hearts.
