13. But he who endures to the end will be saved.
This scripture comes after it is telling us that this is the beginning of the intolerable anguish. Then we will begin to distrust and desert Him whom we ought to trust and obey. And the love of the great body will grow cold. We must endure, not be victorious but endure to the end.
Endure – d) to stand (pain, fatigue,…)
Desert – d) to abandon; to leave one’s post without permission to avoid hazardous duty.
Times are going to be so rough that love fails because self is first. Many can trust in the Lord as long as things go their way. But when undeserved trouble and persecution comes they have not enough power of the Holy Spirit inside to get them through. Flesh will not be able to stand on its own strength.
Now is the time to turn off the media and other personal interests that get in the way of your time with the Lord.
Luke 21:25 And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and upon the earth distress (trouble and anguish) of nations in bewilderment and perplexity (that is, without resources) left wanting, embarrassed, in doubt, not knowing which way to turn) at (the echo) the roaring of the tossing of the sea:
26. Men swooning away or expiring with fear and dread and apprehension and expectation of the things that are coming on the world; for the very powers of the heavens will be shaken and caused to totter. Amp.
Everything that is prophesied will come to pass and we will see it. He comes as a refiner’s fire. We need the fire to perfect us not to rapture us and give us an escape route. God is in control and will be testing us to see if we believe what we have been taught.
This is the time to be alone with Him and know the great love and power He has for us. We must learn to let Him arise within us and have the power of the Holy Spirit inside as a resource that will see us through. If not we will desert Him whom we should trust and obey.
Luke 21:36 Keep awake then and watch at all times; praying that you may have the full strength and ability and be accounted worthy to escape all these things taken together and to stand in the presence of the Son of man.
