PSALM 4:1
- Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have freed me when I was hemmed in and enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me and hear my prayer.
This is a Psalm of David. He is telling what the Lord has done for him. His enemies hemmed him in. So, the Lord sees his distress and not only sets him free but enlarges him. He took David’s heart and made it bigger. Now he could reach others in a bigger way.
What does it mean to be enlarged. It means we are not small anymore. The devil tries to back us into a corner with no way out of our problems. If we wait upon the Lord, He will not only make a way but change us in the process.
The Lord will make us known. David was not known until he slew Goliath. The Lord brought it all about and made it happen. Overnight David became famous in Israel. He was preparing him to be received as a King.
PSALM 18:19 He brought me forth also into a large place; He was delivering me, because He was pleased with me and delighted in me.
The Lord has many good things to bring about if we follow His ways. David could have gone another route. By now he knew the ways of the Lord and followed Him. The Lord’s way may not be the easy way, but it is the most rewarding and fruitful.
He rewarded and recompensed David and made him successful in every way. Just think of all of the Lord’s Glory. It became David’s. All of the sudden he is the head and not the tail. Saul dies and David becomes King. Only the Lord could do that!!!
