COLOSSIANS 3:1
- If then you have been raised with Christ (to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead), aim at and seek the rich, eternal treasures that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Amp.
When I read this today it reminded me of Isaiah 60:1 that is so special. It is saying that we are supposed to arise and shine and be seated next to Christ. Isaiah 60 is full of eternal treasures. This is also Ephesians 2:6 And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together- giving us joint seating with Him – in the heavenly sphere by virtue of being in Christ Jesus, the Messiah, the Anointed One. We are definitely to dwell in the heavenly sphere. That is where we are safe in these last days. Rev. 12:12-15
They all tie into Isaiah 60:1. Colossians 3 goes on to say to keep our eyes set on things that are above and not things of this world because we have died to this world, and we are hid in Christ. This shows us how we are to live.
There are things and problems of this world that we can get so upset over if we dwell on them. The Lord has taught me that to be at rest is to keep my spiritual eyes focused on Him and not my own weaknesses, or circumstances or lies from the enemy. This scripture is saying the same thing. We are to set our minds on what is above.
I have noticed that the harder the problem, the harder it is to focus on the good or heavenly realm. This is really out of our natural ability. I have come to the Lord and said after failing that I just cannot do it. That I believe is what He wanted to hear. I have to stop trying so hard and start resting in His power.
Colossians goes onto say to kill the evil desire lurking in your members which covers a lot. It also means to kill the ability of self-reliance and control. Sometimes we hold onto situations out of fear thinking we are protecting ourselves from something painful. That is not trust. We must put all things in His very capable hands and take our hands off.
Then we can clothe ourselves with His goodness and gentleness, letting peace rule and the rest of Chapter 3. Then as we sing we are lifted up into the heavenlies where He is. We need to learn to stay in the heavenly realm more and more. Satan cannot touch us when we are seated next to Christ. It is not just a nice thought but God’s will for each of us.
Ephesians is one of my favourite chapters in the bible and one that I think is so important for all believers to read and understand. We need to understand the authority that we have in Christ Jesus. ππΎπ
