LUKE 11:34-35
34. Your eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye (your conscience) is sound and fulfilling its office, your whole body is full of light; but when it is not sound and is not fulfilling its office, your body is full of darkness.
35. Be careful therefore that the light that is in you be not darkness. Amp.
Jesus is talking about the spiritual eye of the soul. It is so important as it decides for us how we interpret, discern and judge things. If our conscience is sound, then we are aware and convicted of our sins and will do our best to repent and rid ourselves of them.
David Wilkerson wrote a message titled, “Hard Hearts in the House of God.” He wrote that many sit in Churches all over the land and hear the Gospel preached over and over. If they hear and obey, they will grow. If they ignore what they hear and keep living an unchanged life, their hearts become harder each time they hear and do not obey. Their heart becomes so hard that they cannot feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit therefore their eye is not sound and not fulfilling its duty. They are in darkness.
I have talked about “The Ladder,” I use. I gathered fragments from David Wilkerson, Spurgeon and my Streams in the Desert Book and came up with it. It makes it clear to me where my spiritual eye is. It is so very important to not dwell on our problems. That is a tactic Satan will use to get us to worry. Worry is the beginning that can lead to darkness if we allow it to remain. Darkness is the beginning of confusion. Confusion is the definition of Babylon. If we want to avoid the plagues, we must keep our spiritual eye sound.
If we want to be filled with light we must have the right focus. The Lord wants us to be thankful and positive. We must have a good healthy positive attitude. We are to rest in His love and promises. We are to fill our day with Him. Praise and worship is our food. Prayer, communion and the Word of God is our meat.
It is very important that we do not eat spiritual junk food, or our spirit will become sick and weak. If we feed on the media and this world it will lead us to Babylon and idolatry. We must give the reins of our life to the Lord and allow Him to lead us to the light every day.
PSALMS 36:7 How precious is Your steadfast love, O God! The children of men take refuge and put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.
8. They relish and feast on the abundance of Your house, and You cause them to drink of the stream of Your pleasures.
9. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light do we see light. Amp.
