PSALM 121:5-7

5. The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand the side not carrying a shield.

6. The sun shall not smite you by day, nor the moon by night.

7. The Lord will keep your from all evil. He will keep your life.

DEFINITIONS

Keep -d) to observe with due ceremony; to protect, guard, defend; to cause to stay in a specified condition, position.

If the Lord is our keeper, then we have nothing to fear! This is saying that He will keep us in the right position. Then we will never go backward. He is our keeper. He keeps us meaning He will protect and defend us. What more do we need?

We must put our life into His keeping and not be our own keeper. Our trust must be in His power and not in ourselves. Self-dependence will cause us to lose His keeping power. Sometimes we are so used to taking care of things ourselves that we do not even know we are stopping him from working.

We must give things over to Him. He will not work when we are in the way. When we give Him the reins of our life, we must take our hands off. This is the sign of a controlling person. Most controlling people need to have control of every situation because of fear. They have been abused in some way and do not want to let go and trust. They must control things to feel safe.

We are so blessed to have Him want to be in control and keep us from evil. I pray this every day. What more do we need than to have Him keep our lives from evil?

  1. 💕You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You. (Isa 26:3)

  2. I wonder how God feels when we rush him, or get ahead of him. My wife is always trying to tell me how to drive, I wish she would just let me drive. I drive well enough without her in the car, but she constantly wants me to slow down or back off in traffic. I get it! So, I just tell her to drive and I’ll mind my own business. I know that God has our best interests at heart, but we need to let him drive. 😁 God bless
