REVELATION 14:13

13. And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, “Write, blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them.” KJV

DEFINITIONS

Rest -d) ease after work or exertion; a period of inactivity; relief from anything distressing, tiring, etc.

This comes at the beginning of the Wrath of God. Babylon has fallen. It seems that it is the time of His recompense. What better reward than to have Jesus say “Good work. Now rest in My presence.”

JOEL 2:19

19. Yes, the Lord answered and said to His people, Behold, I am sending you grain, and grape juice, and oil, and you shall be satisfied with them; and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen nations.

He is saying this in Joel at the beginning of the outpouring of His Spirit. So also, this is the beginning of the last outpouring or harvest before the end. This would coincide with the fall of Babylon being His recompense. All will reap what they have sown, good and evil.

What does rest really mean? When He says to be at rest, He is telling us to cease from labors. When He comes to dwell, the devil leaves. We do not have to pray and bind the evil spirits because He said yes to our prayer and Satan has been kicked out of our life.

Our life now is to be spent in His Rest. We must learn to keep our spiritual eyes upon the Lord and off of our circumstances which may remain unchanged until He works out all the bugs. We have to keep our focus on the good things He has promised us and off of our own weaknesses. Satan still is going to lie. Yes, he is gone but he still has access to our thoughts from afar.

The Lord expects us to believe Him and not what we see or feel or hear. Times may be very shaky all around us, but it will not come near us. We are to rest in our spirit with no fear. If the Lord has come to dwell, there is no reason to fear.

We must take this seriously because if we are not binding the spirits, we are safe because we are at rest in Him. Rest is our safety. So, we must be careful to keep our focus on the good promise we have been given and not believe what we see or hear.

To be at rest is the most blessed place to be. There is so much love and joy flowing from the unending fellowship with the Lord. Nothing can compare. It is the best reward there can be.

PSALM 116:7

7. Return to your rest, O my soul, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.
