SONG OF SOLOMON 8:5
5. Who is this who comes up from the wilderness leaning upon her beloved?
DEFINITIONS
Wilderness -c) a pasture, a desert.
Wilderness -d) an uncultivated region, waste, wild; any barren empty, open area.
Beloved -d) a dearly, loved person.
When the Lord brought the Israelites out of Egypt, He brought them to a wilderness to teach them His way of faith. He brought them to a place where there was no food, no stores, no Hospitals, no Media, and no civilization. They had no way to survive but the Lord. He wanted them to learn how much they really did have in Him.
Though He parted the Red Sea for them and crushed the Egyptian Army, they still did not believe but continuously complained about their lot. They failed to see the good behind God’s plan for them. His wilderness experience is here for us today. We also have the option of submitting to this trial or going our own way.
This world is so electronically inclined. It is so easy to get the help you need at the click of a button. Things did not used to be that way. Just think about what all they had to go through to cook their meals and to wash their clothes. They had no electricity. They had to depend on fire or sunlight for heat and light. Traveling must have been so uncomfortable, by riding on an animal or walking for long periods. Their beds were probably not very soft. We can honestly say that we are rather spoiled today.
REVELATION 12:14
14. But the woman was supplied with the two wings of a giant eagle, so that she might fly from the presence of the serpent into the desert (wilderness) where she is to be kept safe and fed for a time, and times, and half a time (3 1/2 years). Amp.
We have been given the option to put on the wings of a giant eagle that represents the power of the Holy Spirit. It will lead us away from the devil into a barren land of testing and proving that will teach us how to trust and lean on the Lord and not ourselves and is a place of safety.
If we submit to all of His ways, we will come out of the wilderness leaning upon our Beloved. We will learn His ways of providing through faith. We will learn His ways of love and gentleness. We can only learn this as we go through the trials and see how He comes through for us. That is our faith builder, and we will never forget His wonderful ways.
