REVELATION 22:14
14. Blessed (happy and to be envied) are those who cleanse their garments that they may have the authority and right to approach the tree of life and to enter in through the gates to the city. Amp.
This is showing us something about the Millennial reign. There will be many different types of people living at that time. All will not be holy. We are talking about the City of the Lord or the New Jerusalem.
REVELATION 22:27
27. But nothing that defiles or profanes or is unwashed shall ever enter it, nor anyone who commits abominations — that is, unclean, detestable, morally repugnant things – or practices falsehood, but only those whose names are recorded in the Lamb’s Book of life.
Jesus is reigning on the earth with His elect. All who live on the earth do not have their names in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Some still commit abominations. The City of the Lord will be like the Universal Church. It will be up on a High mountain and all will flow to it to get knowledge of God’s ways.
Some will have the authority to drink from the tree of Life. Then they will live forever. We must have all of our sins washed away by the blood of Jesus. No one can come on their own.
We will be learning God’s ways and how to live in a world with Him. Though it will still be on this earth, it will feel very much like heaven.
