1 THESSALONIANS 5:2
2. For you yourselves know perfectly well that the day of the Lord’s return will come unexpectedly and suddenly as a thief in the night.
The scripture is saying that when the Lord comes back, it will be quickly and with no time to prepare. Now is the time to prepare. We are not to wait for Him to take His place before we repent. I have heard others say that when they see this happen or that happen then they would get ready.
The Lord knows man’s heart, and He is in control of all things. His plan will take precedence over all man’s plans and desires. He will come when He has perfected His bride. He has a perfect plan.
He knows what we need and how to supply it. He will bring His refining fire to refine us. And we do not have any control over it. If we back away and try to stop the affliction process, we will only hurt ourselves. He brings the fire and then He puts it out. We then have times of refreshing in His presence. We are blessed by His ways.
REVELATION 3:10
10. Because thou hast kept the word of My patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. KJV.
The scripture is saying that when we endure His trials and learn patience, we have this promise that He will keep and protect us from what is coming upon all the world. Now is the time to let Him perfect us. We need the refining fire whether He comes back in this lifetime or not. How much more with His promise of protection.
PSALM 128:1
- Blessed is everyone that feareth the Lord; that walketh in His ways.
Happiness is the sure pathway when we fear offending Him and walk in obedience to Him.
