“ZADOK OR ELI” DAY OF THE LORD DECEMBER 4, 2022

1 SAMUEL 2:31

31. Behold, the time is coming when I will cut off your strength and the strength of your own father’s house, that there shall not be an old man in your house. Amp.

DEFINITIONS

Fat -c) the richest or choice part.

The scripture is the judgment against Eli for allowing his sons to disobey the Lord and be disrespectful of the offering the Lord required. His actions brought judgment on Israel and the house of Eli.

His sons did not offer the meat and flesh from the sacrifices the right way. They took the meat they wanted, not obeying the commandment of the priesthood. Eli knew his sons were not doing the right thing and did not rebuke them.

The fat was supposed to be offered and burned a certain way. It has symbolic meaning. The Hebrew word for fat is cheleb meaning the richest or choice part. This was the best part of the offering. This has meaning for us. In our life we are to give the best part of our life to the Lord. He is worthy of the best we can offer.

Judgment came in death. The ark was captured by the enemy. Eli and both his sons died the same day. Eli’s daughter in-law died in childbirth that day also. It left a curse on his family from then on. The Lord takes our offering seriously.

There is so much idolatry in the Church today. The Lord wants and is more than deserving of our best. When we come to Him sleepy and distracted because of not putting Him first judgment will come. We must choose which priesthood we will follow, Eli or Zadok.

EZEKIEL 44:15-16

15. But the priests of the Levites, the sons of Zadok, who kept the charge of My sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from Me, shall come near to minister to Me, and they shall attend to Me to offer to Me the fat and the blood says the Lord God.

16. They shall enter into My sanctuary, and they shall come near to My table to minister to Me, and they shall keep My charge.

We want to be Zadok priests and minister to the Lord. If we put anything before Him our offering becomes strange fire and is not acceptable to Him. That is Idolatry. Many continue serving the Lord their own way with one hand in the world and one hand with God. Judgment will come.

We must worship in Spirit and in Truth. The Lord is looking in our hearts and at our offerings. He is coming back and will separate the sheep from the goats. Many will be surprised who the goats may turn out to be on that day.
