JOHN 17:3

3. And this is eternal life, it means to know (to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with and understand) You, the only true and real God, and (likewise) to know Him, Jesus as the Christ, the Anointed One, the Messiah, Whom You have sent. Amp.

The scriptures are telling us that the way to eternal life is not to just want to escape punishment and banishment from God, but to want to get to know God the Father, through Jesus Christ, His Son. If we just want a ticket to heaven and an easier life being set free from sin, we are going after it in the wrong way with the wrong motive.

In John 6:65 Jesus says that no one can come to Him unless they are enabled by the Father. So, the Father is drawing those who have a heart for Him. He places a hunger and desire for Him in our hearts when we first get saved. If we follow that desire, it will grow. If not, it will weaken. We still have a free will. He wants worshippers who love Him willingly and not robots.

It is up to us what we do with our new gift of salvation. If we hunger for more and spend time with Him in our prayer time getting to know Him, it will only grow. If He wants us to know Him, how can He say no when we seek Him?

If we let family, career and the world keep us from knowing Him, it is our fault. He has opened the door for us to enter into a special place of intimacy with Him. Satan will do his best to keep you out of this place. The Lord tests us to see how much of Him we want. He will supply us with how ever much we want. It is up to us how much we take.

Ephesians 1:17-18 says that we can be granted such insight into the deep knowledge of Him and His secrets. This is His desire for each of us. This is the purpose of prayer. It is to draw us away from ourselves and die to the fleshly nature as we enter into His presence. The more we pray, the more we will have of His presence. The more we have of His presence, the more faith and trust we have in Him. That is His ultimate goal for us, “Trust.” To know Him is to trust Him. And so, we will have a deeper walk with Him.

We trust Him more and more as He reveals Himself to us in our communion and prayer time. He will not do this at Church. This is done in the secret place alone with Him. This is the time that He opens our eyes to see His nature clearly and know His love for us and how much He wants to share His life with us.

As our understanding is flooded with this light, we are filled with the knowledge of His power that He wants us to walk in in order to be victorious. Then we can become more than conquerors through Him and this great mystery we have been given.

  1. One of my favourite songs is Cari Jobe’s β€˜The More I seek you, the more I find you.’ We are in a season where staying in the presence of God is a necessity and we are not going to do well without living in and being led by the spirit. Bless you my dear. πŸ™πŸΎβ€οΈπŸ’–
