PSALM 84:4

4. Blessed happy, fortunate to be envied — are those who dwell in Your house and Your presence; they will be singing Your praises all the day long. Selah! Amp.

This is a beautiful Psalm with so many promises of love and blessings and safety. We want to dwell in the house of the Lord always. I have spoken about this before and will continue to do so.

When we come to the Lord’s house, we first come into His gates with thanksgiving in our hearts and into His courts with praise. When we dwell in His house, we are always of a grateful spirit and full of His praise. It becomes who we are and a way of life because dwelling with Him is such a happy and wonderful experience.

It does not mean that we never have any more trials or rough days. Verse 6 says, “Passing through the valley of weeping they make it a place of springs; the early rain also fills (the pools) with blessings.” We sing His praises in the trial and He is with us making the valley a learning place that we need. He turns it into a valuable lesson, and we grow.

PSALM 84:7

7. They go from strength to strength – increasing in victorious power; each of them appears before God in Zion.

We gain strength and are changed. We become stronger for the next battle. In the midst of the battles, is a wonderful place to be as verse 10 says a day in His courts is better than 1000 anywhere else. His court is leading us somewhere that gets better and better. He wants us inside with Him.

PSALM 84:11-12

11. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows present grace and favor and future glory – honor, splendor and heavenly bliss! No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. Amp.

When we walk uprightly, He comes to dwell with us. We are blessed with all of His goodness.

  1. Grace
  2. Favor
  3. Glory
  4. Honor
  5. Splendor
  6. Heavenly Bliss
  7. Every good thing

It is His will to bless always. We have His protection as the sun and a shield. To be in His house is the safest place to be. This is His will for us and where we must learn to be for the end is drawing ever so near.

12. O Lord of hosts, blessed – happy – fortunate (to be envied) – is the man who trusts in You, (leaning and believing on You, committing all and confidently looking to You, and that without fear or misgiving)! Amp.

When He makes Himself known to us, He expects us to learn trust. He reveals His mighty power in our lives. So that the next trial that comes we should know that He is with us, and we are safe. He already knows the outcome and is working it for our good. We have no reason to fear. Fear is the opposite of faith and basically calling Him a liar.

We must learn to resist fear. The fearful will have their place in the lake of fire.

  1. For You, Lord, will bless the [uncompromisingly] righteous [him who is upright and in right standing with You]; as with a shield You will surround him with goodwill (pleasure and favor). (Ps 5:12)
