ZECHARIAH 12:9-10
9. And it shall be in that day, that I will make it My aim to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
10. And I will pour out upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace or unmerited favor and supplication. And they shall look earnestly upon Me Whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son and shall be in bitterness for Him as one who is in bitterness for his first-born. Amp.

The last days will be the Lord’s Day of recompence. He will come with His judgments and His rewards. He is always watching and protecting His people. He takes the sins committed against His people more seriously than we do. He is saying here in Zechariah 12:9 that He will destroy those who come against Jerusalem. And who exactly is Jerusalem?
Jerusalem is the capital of Spiritual Israel where the Temple is located. The temple had the arc of the covenant inside which was the symbol of the presence of God. The temple now is within us. This is where God chose to put His presence then and now. He will not let all the abuse go unpunished. He will destroy the nations that come against her. His presence is to be respected and reverenced by all. That includes his people who are filled with His presence.
Many believe this to be the physical country Israel and Jerusalem the capital. But when Jesus died on the cross, He brought to an end the old covenant or agreement making it obsolete (Hebrews 8:13). The blood of Jesus tore the veil of the temple opening the way for us to enter into the presence of God. Jesus’ blood is the one and only way to the Father and His presence. The physical country Israel must come to the Father through the blood of Jesus, or they are not accepted by Him anymore. This scripture belongs to spiritual Jerusalem alone.
At the same time, He will pour out His grace or divine influence in the lives of His people and the spirit of supplication. There will be a very strong urge for His people to pray. Before any revival or move of God there is always much prayer beforehand.
He will also reveal Himself as never before and they will see Him as a crucified Savior and will be in deep mourning for His treatment. And they will be comforted.
