PSALM 91:2-4

2. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge, and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.

3. Surely, He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and the noisome pestilence.

4. He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler. KJV.

DEFINITIONS

Refuge -d) shelter or protection from danger; a place of safety.

Buckler -c) something surrounding the person; a shield.

Pestilence -c) murrain, plague.

Pestilence -d) any virulent or fatal contagious disease; an epidemic of such disease.

Murrain -d) any of various infectious diseases of cattle.

Psalm 91 is a very wonderful Psalm with a lot to learn about God’s protection. We need His protecting power in our life today more than ever, spiritually and physically. There are new viruses showing up every day with no cure in sight. We still seem to have the threat of COVID. I have known some who have gotten the vaccine and still got sick with COVID. We are in need of true protection.

We must make Him our refuge. We must go to Him for our help and for our safety. If we are expecting His help, then He should be the first place we go for help. If He says, “By His wounds you have been healed,” we should not go any further but believe we have already been healed. What we may have are symptoms.

Satan is working on our mind and if we believe him, we will get sick after the symptoms appear. But if we refuse to believe we are sick the symptoms will leave. It is all about our faith in His Word. We must learn to walk in His healing by faith.

This is very serious as the meaning of pestilence is a fatal disease. The Lord is the true protection and not man. If we put our trust in Him, He will cover us with Himself, and we will be surrounded by His protecting wings.

Matthew 24:7 …and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

This is a prophesied plague for the last days, and we need His protection. His protection will be the only protection when His plagues hit for their will be no vaccine.

He is faithful and good and will be a safe refuge to all who come to Him in faith!

  1. Great devotional .
    I used to know God the FATHER in a shallow way but now I know Him is my father the Protector.
    If God turns His back on us we are done.

    Numbers 6:23-27
    [23]“Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them:
    [24]“The Lord bless you and keep you;
    [25]The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you;
    [26]The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” ’

    1. I am to warn not to trust in an arm of flesh or the world for help. We have been taught our whole life to trust self and the world. Now we have to learn how to trust the Lord.
      Thank you for those beautiful scriptures. What is better than His face shining upon us?

  2. I know that when the doctor’s told me that I had cancer at first, I was afraid because that is what satan wanted. I did not accept that and started praying and believed God when he said by His stripes I had been healed. I know that if I had accepted the diagnosis then it would have become real. When you are given a diagnosis or when you believe that you have a disease then you become a prisoner to what it is. If you deny the disease and believe in God’s word and pray knowing that if He died on that cross for you and took the beatings so that we can be healed, then you will be healed. You have to stay in His word and praise Him with all your heart, mind, body, and spirit.
