REVELATION 6:5-6
5. When He broke open the third seal, and I heard the third living creature call out, come and look! And I saw, and behold, a black horse, and in his hand the rider had a pair of scales (a balance).
6. And I heard what seemed to be a voice from the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius (a whole day’s wages), and three quarts of barley for a denarius; but do not harm the oil and the wine! Amp.
The first 4 Seals:
- White Horse – bow and a crown (deception)
- Red Horse – to take away peace
- Black Horse – famine
- Pale Horse – death
We are talking about the Black Horse or the 3rd seal. This is known to be about famine. We know many countries have seen failing economies that have brought in a depression. We have seen where storms and earthquakes have left devastation in the wake of the aftermath.
However, the earth as a whole has never experienced a complete drought or famine as what is predicted here. This will touch everyone. The only escape and protection will be for “the oil and the wine.”
So just what does the oil and the wine represent?
The oil symbolizes the Holy Spirit. Jesus was in the garden of Gethsemane that is now filled with olive trees. His life was crushed like olives are crushed to extract the oil. He came and died so we could be saved and filled with His Holy Spirit that gives us power to live an overcoming life.
The wine symbolizes the blood of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The grapes or fruit of the vine is also crushed like the olive to extract the juice that makes the wine.
Matthew 26:28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which ratifies the agreement and is being poured out for the many for the forgiveness of sins. Amp.
The blood of Jesus is the only way by which we can come to the Father and receive forgiveness. The old covenant is obsolete, Hebrews 8:13. We must put our faith in the blood of Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross. He sees into our heart and knows where our faith lies.
When we apply the wine (blood of Jesus) and the oil (Holy Spirit) to our hearts and lives, we will be known by God and His protection will be upon us through any famine that will come.
Psalm 33:18-20
18. Behold, the Lord’s eye is upon those who revere and worship Him with awe; who wait for Him and hope in His mercy and loving-kindness,
19. To deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.
20. Our inner selves wait (earnestly) for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. Amp.
Oh the blood of Jesus. It never loses his power. šš¾ā¤ļø
