HEBREWS 3:18-19
18. And to whom did He swear that they should not enter His rest, but to those who disobeyed — who had not listened to His Word, and who refused to be compliant or be persuaded?
19. So we see that they were not able to enter into His rest because of their unwillingness to adhere to and trust and rely on God — unbelief had shut them out. Amp.
We just talked about Peace and Rest but covered very little about rest. The definition of rest is to cease. When we lay down to rest, we cease from all other activity which brings a calm, subdued feeling leading us off to slumber. We must think on this spiritually so that our spirit can be at rest.
The Lord is always saying to me, “What do I want?” I know the answer is for me to be at rest. That is the most important thing to Him. If I am at rest, He can flow through me for others. That is His desire for me. And it is also one of the most difficult.
To be spiritually at rest means that our focus is on the good plan He has for us. We are not focused on our own weakness or the weaknesses of others. We are not to listen to the lies of the enemy. So, there should be no fear or unsettledness in our spirit. We are at peace and at rest.
However, it is tremendously hard to keep the right focus when you are in the midst of painful trials and difficulties. These times are more for our growth and teach us deeper things about ourselves and our nature. He has great mercy upon us. But He is close by waiting for the time that we will see the good and trust in His goodness that will always rise above the pain.
He did not let the Israelites into the promise land because of their unbelief. He tested them time after time, and they failed at each turn. They always were focused on their own weakness and cried the blues complaining that they should have stayed in Egypt. God was not pleased with them. Only Joshua and Caleb believed that God was with them and would provide for them.
We must then decide if we are going to be a murmuring Israelite or like Joshua and Caleb. Our walk with the Lord must be based on our faith and trust in Him. We must also be examining ourselves to see if we are at rest. We will be shut out also just like the Israelites if we are guilty of unbelief.
Revelations 21:7-8
7. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God and he shall be my son.
8, But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. KJV.
He puts fear and unbelief at the top of the list of who will be in the lake of fire. That is how important it is to Him. It must be that important to us.
Great work my dear.
Just today I was studying about Sabbath and rest.
I discovered that the people of old took Sabbath literally.
They thought just physically avoiding work on a particular day was enough yet this was a spiritual position.
I discovered that drom John 5 Jesus would heal more people on Sabbath and could it mean that the physical day had a major spiritual impact that they could not tap into without Jesus Christ opening it up for them.
And they hated Him more for taking people into their rest through healing and deliverances.
Thank you for this I was blessed!

The subject keeps getting back to rest. I have not thought about how much He suffered because of His healing on the Sabbath. I have heard some people say that as kids they were not allowed to use scissors on the Sabbath. That was considered work.
That is so good saying that they could not tap into the true Sabbath without Jesus. I love the way you put that. Thank you, I have been blessed.

Yes even the Jewish Sabbath is considered a shadow of things to come
Colossians 2:16-17
So donāt let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths.Ā For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality
So true and original sabbath(rest)is found in Christ.
Imagine that the fullness Godly nature dwelt in human body in the form of Christ so all things we need are found in Christ including the rest we so much desire!

We have to learn that we cannot keep all of the rules and because of that we need a savior. Then we can trust and rely on Him to fill us with His fullness. Then His rest will come because of His goodness poured out in us. Amen!
