PSALM 16:1

  1. Keep and protect me, O God, for in You I have found refuge, and in You do I put my trust and hide myself. Amp.

Psalm 16 is not known as an end times scripture. But it is telling how to be safe. That makes it relevant for end times.

Who is your refuge? Who do you go to for help? Who do you go to for advice?

Do you go at once to your prayer room and talk about the trouble to the Lord? That is always where we should go. You will go to the one to whom you put your trust. There are so many other avenues we can take now with the media so accessible. There is an app for every problem there is. So quick and at your fingertips. No waiting!

Believe in the amplified means to trust in, adhere to and rely on. If we rely on another besides the Lord, then He is not our refuge. This is the main key in our safety. We must hide ourselves in Him or all will be in vain.

Psalm 16:7-8

7. I will bless the Lord Who has given me counsel; yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons.

8. I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

What does it mean to bless the Lord? When we are negative and complaining because of trials and affliction, that is not blessing the Lord. If we allow Him, He will give us the needed instructions that will lead us out of any difficulty and any night season.

He is good and He does not change. He will turn our situation around the moment we thank Him honestly from our heart believing no matter how bad things look, He will make it work for our good. That is what His Word says. That is the truth. We show that we believe by what comes out of our mouth.

Thanksgiving is the only way we can come to Him. He has one way, and we must learn to abide in it. If we do not learn this, we can get stuck in a wilderness of our own self-pity and even anger toward the Lord for our hard plight.

If you allow yourself to blame God for the problems in your life, then you are right where Satan wants you. Satan wants you to doubt the Lord’s goodness especially in times of great grief and suffering. We must always be on our guard believing the truth or we will end up in darkness.

When we learn and are obedient to His ways, He comes and is with us in such a beautiful way. We can honestly say verse 8. He is at my right hand and because He is so near to me, how can any harm come to me and steal my position in the Lord?

Psalm 16:9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory (my inner self) rejoices; my body too shall rest and confidently dwell in safety.

Psalm 16:10 For You will not abandon me to Sheol (the place of the dead), neither will you suffer Your holy one to see corruption.

Now my heart is glad because He is so near, and I am safe. I can rest knowing He will protect me.

Psalm 16:11 You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at You right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Amp.

The final verse is the best. After we have made Him our refuge and set Him continually before us, He will show us the way and lead us. As we follow Him, we will find the path of life. We will find it filled with Him and His goodness and joy. He is there and that is all that any of us ever need.
