REVELATION 3:12

12. He who overcomes (is victorious), I will make him a pillar in the sanctuary of My God; he shall never be put out of it or go out of it, and I will write on him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem which descends from My God out of heaven, and My own new name. Amp.

What does it mean to be an overcomer? We know it means victory. We know we must win the battles in our life. We can not give up the fight. Rev. 12:11 explains it better.

Revelation 12:11 And they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of their testimony, for they did not love and cling to life even when faced with death — holding their lives cheap till they had to die for their witnessing.

What does it mean to not love and cling to life even when faced with death?

How many go to doctors and receive a bad report and are told they must undergo some procedure that will cause the quality of life to be changed? But this must be done if you want to live. This is your only option. Is this the only option for a Christian?

1 Peter 2:24 He personally bore our sins in His own body to the tree as to an altar and offered Himself on it, that we might die, cease to exist to sin and live righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed. Amp.

This is past tense. This is His promise to us that He died for us so we can know we have already been healed. We do not have to suffer like the world does because this world is not our home. I know if I went to man for help, I would get a death sentence. We have His promise and the promise of heaven so why would we cling to this life and fight to stay here when we could shut our eyes and wake up with Jesus. I know where I would rather be.

The overcomer does not cling to life but relies totally on the blood of the Lamb for his needs. Then when going forth not relying on man but on the blood of the Lamb will have a testimony that will cause others to take note of.

My good friend Cheryl was healed of cancer when she left the hospital room where she was scheduled for a hysterectomy. She was worshipping with her walkman while she was waiting and started seeing the number 6 every where and felt the Lord telling her she was not safe there. She did not cling to life but to the Lord. About a year later she had tests and was cancer free. She walked a year not knowing but trusting. She now has a great testimony.

He says in verse 12 that He will make them a pillar in the sanctuary and will never leave but will always be in the Presence of God. What better reward could there be?

  1. ‘She walked a year not knowing but trusting’ Oh Wow! She is indeed an over comer. I’m so glad that God revealed to her that she was not safe there… and even more-so, I’m glad that she was obedient to the Spirit and removed herself from that place. What a great testimony!! Thanks Wenda💕

      1. Indeed He does give great gifts! I’m so sorry about your daughter. Looks like Bettysheba is your ‘faith-full’ Ruth🥰 Ruth was a better daughter to Naomi than both Mahlon and Chilion!!
