“WHO SHALL STAND?” DAY OF THE LORD — JULY 16, 2022

REVELATION 6:17

17. For the great day of His wrath is come; and who is able to stand?

Deuteronomy 28:9 The Lord shall establish thee a holy people unto Himself…

Psalm 24:3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in His holy place?

DEFINITIONS

Establish -c) OT abide, endure, arise, make sure, strength, succeed, make to stand.

Stand -c) NT abide, appoint, establish, continue, covenant. (Same Greek word for star)

Who shall stand? Stand is the word that we must know the different meanings to have it fixed in our heart and minds so we will be ready when He comes with His rewards and judgments. We see the word stand and establish are from the same Hebrew word from the Old Testament.

We can put our faith in Deut. 28:9 and know that as we serve and obey Him, He will establish us and make us to stand. We cannot foresee all that is coming upon the earth. We must put our life into His hands, trusting Him for all we need.

Malachi 3:2 But who may abide the day of His coming? And who shall stand when He appeareth? For He is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap. KJV.

If we do not make it a habit every day to come into His presence with singing and thanksgiving in our hearts, we will not be prepared. We must learn how to stand before Him and experience His presence. If there is sin in your life you will not stand. You will run like Adam and Eve did. This is very serious. If there are idols in your life you must deal with them with the Lord’s help or you will not stand.

He will come as a refiner’s fire and we must submit our lives to His cleansing and sifting. He will shake the things out of our life that are hindrances to our walk with Him. He will do the establishing of our lives and make us to stand.

The Lord sees down in our being and knows what we need. Only He can bring the perfect trial in our lives that will cleanse and purify our heart. As we endure the hard times of the refiner’s fiery process, we will come out with the inner strength and power to live in harmony with the Holy Spirit — not in opposition to God as the flesh tries to force its way.

Only if we allow His refiner’s fire can we offer ourselves in righteousness and become strong and established before Him. This will be our anointed place. We will serve and worship Him as often as He chooses. He is creating in us the worshipper He wants us to be for eternity.
