ISAIAH 55:1-2

  1. Wait and listen, everyone who is thirsty! Come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Yes, come buy priceless spiritual wine and milk without money and without price (simply for the self-surrender that accepts the blessing.)
  2. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread? And your earnings for what does not satisfy? Hearken diligently to me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness, (the profuseness of spiritual joy). Amp.

DEFINITIONS

Fatness -c) the fatty ashes of sacrifice; abundance.

Surrender -d) to give up possession of or power over; yield.

Isaiah is telling us to come to the water of Life which is the Holy Spirit that we need desperately. It sounds so easy. Just drink the water and you will be satisfied. But there is more to it than that. It has to do with the surrender of our will. The earthly things that we purchase will not satisfy our soul like the wonderful Holy Spirit can.

When we come to the Lord, He accepts us in all of our messes. He loves us unconditionally and will always be there when we call. But He wants so much more for us. And that comes with sacrifice.

When you are crucified with Christ, your arms and legs are no longer your own. They are nailed to the cross with Him. If He has a reason for you to move, then you will move. We have times we must go to the store or go to work. But there are many times we go places that we do not need to go.

If you pray and seek the Lord for His guidance in all that you do, He will answer you. But you must be open to what He is telling you. Back when my children were smaller, we would go on small vacations and out to eat. I started having terrible headaches that would not go away. I had to stop everything and go to bed, because I could not stand the pain. The next morning it was gone. I noticed a pattern. They only happened when we went somewhere. So, I stopped going on trips and out to eat and the headaches completely stopped.

We must decide what is we want. I was not popular for my decision. But I knew this was the Lord and have been blessed more and more since. When you give Him your life, He will take it. Have I missed the trips and going out to eat? He has given me so much more spiritual joy than this world has. He gave me enough memories with my family, and I am very content with that.

You cannot have it both ways. Either you surrender your will to Him and be blessed with the fatness or you hang on to your will and life and suffer when He comes. Sacrifice is abundant life with Jesus. And there is nothing better.

Revelation 22:17…And let everyone come who is painfully conscious of his need of those things by which the soul is refreshed, supported and strengthened; and whoever earnestly desires to do it, let him come and take and drink the Water of Life without cost. Amp.
