MATHEW 24:37-39
37. As were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of man.
38. For just as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the very day when Noah went into the ark.
39. And they did not know or understand until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of man. Amp.
DEFINITION
Rapture -d) the state of being carried away with joy, love, etc.
The scriptures go on to say that two men will be in the field, one will be taken, and one will be left. Most believe this passage is referring to the rapture of the Church, from 1Thess. 4:16-17.
What does the reference to Noah mean? Matthew is saying that men were not concerned with a flood or the danger of it. Noah had warned but they did not believe him and therefore were not prepared for the dangerous flood that was coming. The flood came and swept them all away. Then the verse 39 says, so will be the coming of the Son of man. Then we have the reference in verses 40 and 41 one will be taken, and one will be left.
This is referencing the time of Noah and the flood not the rapture of the Church. In Noah’s day those who were taken were taken in death. Noah was left safely in the ark. This is the way it will be when Jesus returns.
We discussed previously 1Thess. 5:2-3. Verse 2 warns, in a moment unforeseen destruction, ruin and death will come suddenly. That is the way the flood came. And there was in a moment death and destruction of everything that was not in the ark.
We must seek the Lord for safety in the spiritual ark that He has provided for us. And that is the Holy Spirit and His presence which will be the only safe place. Jesus is the way and will always be the only way to the Father.
When He becomes our everything in the secret place of worship and communion, it is rapturous experience. It is a rapturous experience to be in the presence of Jesus, beholding His glory, seeking His face. There is no place better. This is where He draws all of us. If we do not answer His call, then whose fault, is it? We must learn to be spiritually raptured before we can be gathered by the angels when they come for His elect (Matt. 24:31).
Ephesians 2:6 And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together giving us joint seating with Him in the heavenly sphere by virtue of our being in Christ Jesus, the Messiah, the Anointed One. Amp. We should already be raptured.
We must live a rapturous experience now. We must not look at it as being an escape from the trials and tribulations of the last days. We must go through the refining process and allow the Lord to prove us and make us spotless and ready for His temple forever.
I see the great falling away of many professed Christians who have believed the rapture was going to take them away. But when that does not happen, they will be offended and begin to distrust Him Whom they ought to trust and obey. Matt. 24:10
