2 Peter 3:13-14

13. But we look for new heavens and a new earth according to His promise, in which righteousness (uprightness, freedom from sin, and right standing with God) is to abide.

14. So beloved, since you are expecting these things, be eager to be found by Him at His coming without spot or blemish, and at peace — in serene confidence, free from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts. Amp.

The scriptures in 2 Peter 3 tell us that the earth is going to end with fire. The elements of the universe will flare and melt with fire. We are to be prepared by the scriptures. He is telling us that sin will stop us from being ready. We are to be at peace without any fear. How are we to do that when we are told that the earth will melt and be burned up?

1 John 2:17 And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the passionate desires, the lust) of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life, abides and remains forever. Amp.

Romans 8 tells us that. we are to set our minds on and be controlled by the Holy Spirit. If we live without the Holy Spirit that is death. The spirit of this world is death. Our sense and reason can get us into all kinds of trouble. But the mind of the Holy Spirit is life and soul peace, now and forever. We are to be found in peace when He comes back.

It comes down to our obedience and following the Lamb. We are not to lean on our own understanding but bring all of our requests to Him asking for guidance. And He will answer. Sometimes He tests us to see if we become impatient and act on our own. We must learn to wait upon the Lord in His timing. He has certain ways, and we must learn them.

Revelation 14:4-5

4. These are they who have not defiled themselves by relations with women, for they are pure as virgins. These are they who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These are they who have been ransomed (purchased, redeemed) from among men as the first fruits for God and the Lamb.

5. No lie was found to be upon their lips, for they are blameless — spotless, untainted, without blemish — before the throne of God.

Luke 21:36 Keep awake then and watch at all times, praying that you may have the full strength and ability and be accounted worthy to escape all these things that will take place, and to stand in the presence of the Son of man.

These scriptures are telling us that there is a people who will be perfected by the Holy Spirit. They will be spotless before the throne of God. They follow the Lamb wherever He goes. We are to be obedient in all that we do. Not doing our own thing but always praying for His direction. Then as we follow Jesus, we are to pray to be worthy to come before Him in our Worship and in our communion time always before Him and in His presence. That is our safety and where we will find peace.

Revelation 7:17 For the Lamb Who is in the midst of the throne will be their Shepherd, and He will guide them to the springs of the waters of Life; and God will wipe every tear away from their eyes. Amp.

  1. I like the way you expounded the word righteousness.
    I only knew it as right standing with God the other part of freedom from sin came as revelation to me.
    Thank for sharing that!!!

  2. And I was reflecting on;

    1 John 2:17 And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the passionate desires, the lust) of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life, abides and remains forever. Amp.

    I was saying in my heart how vanity it is to spend the rest of your life investing and labouring for worldly desires which are going to disappear and I have seen that even believers are going after vanity too!!!
