“THOU SHALT LOVE THE LORD THY GOD” JUNE 27, 2022 SCRIPTURE AND SONG

MARK 12:29-31

29. And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; the Lord our God is one Lord:

30. And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

31. And the second is like, namely this, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. KJV.

He is telling us we must love him first in 4 areas.

Heart
Soul
Mind
Strength

I think of our heart as a pie filled with loves. How much does each love we have take up? He wants first place. We must make sure that nothing takes up more of our heart than Him. Only He knows our heart. So we must go to Him and ask Him to show us our heart, so we can ask Him to make it right.

Our soul is in the spiritual realm. I believe the loves would be the same as the heart, although it can get attacked by the evil spirits if we allow things in that should not come in. We must always guard our hearts. How do we do that? By keeping in close communion with Jesus continually, all day long. He will protect us if we keep close to Him.

Our mind is also something we must continually protect. If given over to contaminating influences from this world and the Media, it can get filled up with the things of this world very easy, 2Tim.2:21.

Our strength is the fleshly realm. We must not let the flesh rule us. We must rule the flesh. The Holy Spirit will fill us with the needed strength to serve the Lord in every capacity if we allow Him to. Once we let weakness in, then it is easier to be weak again and again. When we say no, we are going to get up and fight, then the strength will be there stronger and stronger each time we yield to the Holy Spirit.

We need to allow the love of God in our hearts and not just our own human love. His love is stronger than anything and only then can we love our neighbor as ourselves.

We need to allow the Lord into the pie of our heart and fix it the way He wants it to be. If this is the greatest commandment, it should be first on our list.
