PSALM 138:8
The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, endure forever; forsake not the works of Your own hands. Amp.
DEFINITIONS
Concerns -d) to have a relation to, to be of importance to; worry, anxiety.
Perfect -d) (verb) to complete in all respects.
We have many things in our life that need perfecting. We are not to fear. How many concerns do we have? And yet these are worries. And we are not to worry. We would all live perfectly before the Lord, if we could. But we are limited by our imperfect faith. We need to grow up in the Lord and allow Him to complete us in His time and way.
Philippians 1:6 And I am convinced am sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ – right up to the time of His return – developing that good work and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you. Amp.
We know our perfection is gradually being done within us as we await His return. But one thing we can count on is that it is sure. If He says it, will He not do it? I know I grow impatient with myself and want perfection right now. But it is not there yet for me. All I know is there must be a reason for His delay. He is working something in me that I must trust Him for though I do not understand it all.
What do we do in the meantime?
Psalm 5:11-12
11. But let those who take refuge and put their trust in you rejoice; let them ever sing and shout for joy, because you make a covering over them and defend them; let those also who love Your name be joyful in You and be in high spirits.
12. For You, Lord will bless the (uncompromisingly) righteous (him who is upright and in right standing with You); as with a shield You will surround him with good will (pleasure and favor). Amp.
We are to keep on singing and shouting His praises. He wants us to be happy in the midst of our struggles and afflictions. That is not something that we are prone to do. He wants us to be in high spirits. He wants us thankful, positive and trusting Him for our answer though we do not see it as yet.
He wants us to learn how to exercise faith when we do not want to. As we learn this, we also learn how wonderful Jesus is. When He walked this earth, He never had a moment of unbelief or self-pity. We have them how many times a day?
He is making worshippers out of us all. When we see the impossibility in us, it causes us to bow lower at His precious feet giving Him all the glory and honor because it is rightfully His!
