We are reminded that Jesus is the Lord over all things. Although now we live under the curse of the sin of mankind, He is still in control. This is a time of testing. Though we do not see Him, we know He is there and that He reigns. He is testing each of us to see what we want. What do we do with our free time? Who do we give it to?
If He must have first place, we should be obedient and give Him our very best. If you spend time in prayer and reading His Word, that is good but only for a start. He wants to see if you are content to serve Him from a distance. What I have learned is that prayer pulls down power from on High and makes us ripe for the deeper things. But it is our choice to go on deeper.
What about seeking His face and hearing His voice? What about we enter into His gates with thanksgiving in our hearts and into His courts with praise? After prayer and reading is the best time for worship and to hear His voice. I believe many just do what they have to do to get by and they miss the true deeper blessings. He does not really have first place in them. They have other plans that take them away.
This is a sad state for many believers. It leaves them empty and dry. And who do they blame but the Lord. They believe they have done their part. But the Lord is seeking those who will worship and serve Him with all of their heart. He wants us to hunger and thirst for Him more than family, career or self-interests.
When we give Him the best we have, He fills us with the hidden treasures of His glory. We draw near to Him, and He draws nearer to us. And this is just the beginning. He keeps making it grow more and more deeper and fuller than we could ever dreamed possible. He makes the things of this earth so undesirable. There is nothing nowhere than can ever come close to the beauty and love that He shows. And then it only grows some more!
Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him Who, by the action of His power that is at work within us, is able to carry out His purpose and do superabundantly, far over and above all that we dare ask or think — infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes or dreams. Amp.
