10. Bring all the tithes — the whole tenth of your income — into the storehouse that there may be food in My house and prove Me now by it, says the Lord of Hosts, if I will not open the windows of Heaven for you and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
11. And I will rebuke the devourer (insects and plagues) for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground: neither shall your vine drop its fruit before the time in the field, says the Lord of Hosts. Amp.
Malachi 3:8 says, “Will a man rob or defraud God? Yet you rob and defraud Me. But you say, in what way do we rob or defraud You? You have withheld your tithes and offerings.
He is very concerned with our offerings of righteousness. Yes, some people may have a hard time giving a tenth of their income. But those will probably not even get to the spot where they must give of their heart to the Lord. We must grow in our giving. We start out with money. Then we work our way up to our life.
Abraham gave a tenth to Melchizedek. He was working his way up to giving his son Isaac. Isaac was so much more valuable to him than his wealth. The Lord is also teaching us that this world is temporary. All that we have belongs to God already. He will do as He pleases. If we withhold anything from Him, it will not work out for our good.
Abraham had learned to trust the Lord and knew Isaac was safe in God’s hands. Then His trust or faith was accredited to him as righteousness. That is when our lives become an offering that He can receive. Trust does not come easy to many because of being hurt by others who have not been trustworthy. We must be healed by the Lord so we can place all of our trust in Him, for He is trustworthy.
How many have had unfaithful spouses? And that has left a broken heart that we try to protect ourselves. Only the Lord can protect us from all the pains of this life. We can place our heart in His very capable hands. Pain sometimes causes a distance between us and God. This should not be. He is the one we need to put back all the brokenness this world can throw at us.
Then will He not keep His promise and pour out His blessings upon us, rebuking the devourer which will keep us safe from harm? The main fruit that we need is the fruit of the Spirit in our lives to become the overcomers that will rule and reign with Him. Let us take our eyes off of the physical and put them on the spiritual. We must keep an eye always on who we are becoming. Are we more loving and forgiving? Are are we malicious and bitter?
The Lord is looking for His righteousness. We want to be more like Jesus. That is what it is all about. And He is love!
Malachi 3:12 And all nations shall call you happy and blessed; for you shall be a land of delight, says the Lord of Hosts.
