MATTHEW 27:51
51. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
My Pastor preached on this scripture a while back. I remember him saying the height of the part of the temple where the curtain veil had been torn was very high. It was probably one -two stories high. It was very thick and could not have been just torn by man, especially from the top to the bottom. It would have had to be cut from the top to the bottom which was actually quite unlikely if not impossible.
This was such a big deal to the Israelites because the Holy of Holies had been opened. There was so much spiritual meaning I am sure they did not fully understand what it all meant. The death of Jesus had opened the way for man to come into the presence of God by His blood. Only the High Priest was allowed and only once a year.
If we have faith in the sacrifice that Jesus made, “we can come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need,” Heb. 4:16.
This is a spiritual blessing. No longer do we need another priest. The way has been opened by the Most High Priest. He is the only Priest we need. If we come to Him with faith believing He is the only way, He will receive us and hear our cry giving us the help we seek.
John 10:9, I Am the Door, anyone who enters in through Me will be saved — will live: he will come in and he will go out (freely) and will find pasture. Amp.
We are now allowed to come and go in and out of His presence, finding our spiritual food only by the blood of Jesus. This is the New Covenant He told them about in Jeremiah 31:31-34. We can come to Him any time of the day with our prayer requests, and He will receive us. We do not realize what a blessing we have compared to how the Jews had to live. He has made it so easy for us. We have no excuse!
