PSALM 79:8-9

8. O do not earnestly remember against us the iniquities and guilt of our forefathers! Let Your compassion and tender mercies speedily come to meet us for we are brought very low.

9. Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Your name! Deliver us, forgive us and purge away our sins, for Your name’s sake. Amp.

We are to always have a time set apart to talk to the Lord about our sins. We must look back at the past 24 hours and examine our day to see if we may have offended the Lord in any way. So many ignore the sins of the heart that they cannot see. They believe if they did not break any of the 10 Commandments, they are okay.

We must examine our inward parts to see if there is anger, pride, self-pity, envy, jealousy, bitterness, fear or unbelief. How can we know what is inside our hearts? We cannot know. We must come to the Lord asking for Him to show us our sins. Sometimes He allows certain trials that will show them to us in our actions and behavior.

Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. Our words are very important. We must pay attention to what comes out. There is a reason for ever thing we say whether good or bad. We can easily see and ask for His forgiveness and help not to say the wrong thing again.

Psalm 19:13-14 asks the Lord to keep us from presumptuous sins. Sometimes we can get in the habit of doing or saying the wrong thing and have no clue that it is wrong. We must pray again for the Lord to reveal these sins to us and help us to not do it again. Let them not have any control over us.

Then in vs. 14 we ask that the words of our mouth and the meditation of our hearts be pleasing to the Lord. We all need help with our tongue. Most of us know this one. But what about the meditation of our hearts? What is it that we meditate on or think about? It will usually be whatever you put into your mind. If you feed you souls continually with the Word of God and spiritual songs, then that is going to be in your thoughts and in your heart. so what do you feed your soul?

Psalm 19:12 Who can discern his lapses and errors? Clear me from hidden and unconscious faults.

If we ask Him for help, He is more than willing to show us the way. Let us not take advantage of His great mercy. Let us never stop asking for His great forgiveness!
