JOEL 2:1-2
- Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand;
- A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. KJV.
DEFINITIONS
Darkness -c) misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness, withholding the Light.
Alarm -c) to mar; to split the ears (with sound), shout (for alarm or joy).
Trumpet -c) sense of incising; a cornet (as giving a clear sound).
This is clearly a warning God is sending to the world from His holy Mount Zion. The Lord has His holy remnant set apart waiting for this day to come. He never does anything without first giving a warning. This day is coming upon us a sure as the morning. There are many signs that are upon the earth and in the sky today that were not there 20 years ago.
To blow a trumpet is to give a loud noisy, piercing sound that will awaken all who are nearby. That is how Israel gave warnings as they had no media to do it for them. This alarm is a cause either for alarm if you are not saved or joy if you are saved and awaiting the Lord’s return.
It will be a day of darkness upon those who do not have the Lord as their savior as He is withholding His Light that has been available to all. Now He is only seen in His people and they are fewer in number than you think. It is a time of recompense and judgment. We will all reap what we have sown whether bad or good.
11Thessalonians 1:10 When He comes back to be glorified in His saints. (That is, on that day He will be made more glorious in His consecrated people) and He will be marveled at and admired in His glory reflected in all who have believed – who have adhered to, trusted in and relied on Him — because our witnessing among you was confidently accepted and believed and confirmed in your lives. Amp.
He will have a great people who will be as the dew, refreshing others with the presence of God flowing out from them. They will be truly the only bright lights in the darkness. Times will be devastating for some and wonderfully glorious for others. That is The Day of the Lord, and it is quickly coming upon us!
