PSALM 145:18-21

18. The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call Him in truth.

19. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear Him: He also will hear their cry, and will save them.

20. The Lord preserveth all them that love Him: but all the wicked will He destroy.

21. My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord: and let all flesh bless His Holy Name for ever and ever. KJV.

DEFINITIONS

Truth -d) an established or verified fact; correctness.

Preserve -d) to keep from harm, damage, etc.: protect, save.

Praise -d) to commend the approval of: express approval of.

This is a Psalm of Praise from David. His words come from sanctified experiences that he has endured in his life. He comes to the Lord honoring Him in so many ways. In verse 3 He says, “Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised.” He is coming to the end of the book of Psalms. The Word praise is used 51 times from Psalm 145-150 in the Amplified version of the Bible.

Praise should come out of our hearts as we sing songs that express our approval of Him. And we should ask ourselves if our praise greatly praises Him with enough enthusiasm that shows we mean what we are singing. It seems at times some just endure the worship instead of loving the Lord for His greatness. This should not be. He alone is worthy and should be honored above all. It should show in our worship that we do it for Him not caring what others may think. We should be making a joyful noise for all to hear!

He will answer our cry if we have the truth in our heart. He is looking for us to see our own utter helplessness and call upon the Almighty One who is worthy of all the Honor and Glory that we can give from our heart. How do we do that?

We must respect Him in all areas of our life knowing that He gave us the air that we breathe and can take it away at any time. We do not want to offend Him by our lifestyle. We should want to be pleasing to the One Who made us for Himself. That is just part of the truth we should have in our heart. Then He will draw near to us and hear our cry.

Then He will save us, preserve us from harm and even fulfil our desires. He is always wanting to show us His goodness and mercy. We live in a fallen world around so many hurting and angry people who spend their life in bitterness trying to get even with someone who hurt them. So many are filled with poison instead of the goodness that is offered to them.

We are not living in a society of goodness. Our minds become conditioned to being hurt instead of being shown love and mercy. Then the Lord comes along with all of His wonderful promises. Do we believe them? Most do not. But He cannot lie and has more love and goodness for us that eternity will never use up.

If we draw near to Him in this truth, we will receive His goodness and all of the promises that His Word gives. This is our opportunity to get to know Him. As we get to know Him, we cannot help but fall forever in love with Him. Then we will be preserved from all harm. What more is there?
