PSALM 140:12-13

12. I know, and rest in confidence upon it, that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and justice for the poor and needy of His believing children.

13. Surely the uncompromisingly righteous shall give thanks to Your name; the upright shall dwell in your presence – before Your very face.

This is a Psalm of David. It is a prayer for help against the violent man, hands of the wicked and a slanderous tongue. When the righteous arise and shine their light in the darkness, the darkness reacts. There are lies, misunderstandings and traps of all kinds at every turn.

David knows because he has been there more than once. I have been there a couple of times myself. What did I learn? I learned how to pray and bind the spirit that was causing the attack.

The first thing we must do is realize who the enemy is. It is not flesh and blood but the evil spirits of darkness. That is who we battle. We cover the situation in the Blood of Jesus and tell them to take their hands off of the situation. And we do this over and over until the Lord says, “that is enough.”

I do not think we ever get over the slanders against us. The Lord had more lies and slanders against Him than any other. He ignored the shame, (Heb.12:2)

Ignore -d) pay no attention to.

We are to pay no attention to the lies, slanders and abuse thrown at us by the people Satan uses to try to bring us such grief. That is why David is praying. We have no resources to ignore painful slanders against us. We need God’s love within us which pays no attention to a suffered wrong.

We must draw near to the Lord’s presence and dwell there in Him. The Hebrew word for dwell means marry. When we draw very near to him our Spirit’s become one and we are under His wings safe and secure.

That is David’s prayer. He knows that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted as he gives thanks and dwells in His presence!
