GENESIS 41:39-41

39. And Pharaoh said to Joseph, Forasmuch as your God has shown you all this, there is nobody as intelligent and discreet and understanding and wise as you are.

40. You shall have charge over my house, and all my people shall be governed according to your word with reverence, submission and obedience. Only in matters of the throne will I be greater than you.

41. Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt. Amp.

Charge -d) responsibility or duty

This was already shown to Joseph in a dream when he was younger. It is what got him into trouble with his brothers. They took offense at the thought of Joseph being over them as they were jealous of Him. That is why they sold him into slavery to get rid of him.

But we know the Lord was in control all of the time. He gave Joseph, his dreams. And He gave the chief baker, the chief butler and Pharaoh their dreams. Then He gave Joseph the interpretations of the dreams. He is the one also Who brought the famine.

The Lord had a plan all along that would place the Israelites in Egypt. Then after the set time the Lord would bring them out of Egypt making them a nation. He did choose Joseph to be over his brothers.

It does seem like the leaders are always put in the position to make others jealous, — Moses, — Joseph, — Jesus. Why is someone jealous in the first place? They are not content with what they have been given and not only wanted what someone else had but wanted to bring harm to that person. It is not only the sin of jealousy but the sin of envy which is why Jesus was delivered up to be crucified.

Being a leader is not an easy task. They must be an example to others and walk in righteousness. That is what Joseph’s brothers were not able to do. That is why they were not content with themselves.

Joseph is an example to us. The Lord wants to do the same thing for us that Pharaoh did for Joseph. He will have a company of Josephs who have been persecuted by their brothers through no fault of their own. They will be waiting until the Lord lifts them up out of their prison and puts His garment of righteousness upon them as they take their place and rule and reign beside Him.

Isaiah 60:14 The sons of those who afflicted you shall come bending low to you, and all those who despised you shall bow down at your feet, and they shall call you the City of the Lord, the Zion the Holy One of Israel. Amp.
