“THE NEW JERUSALEM – THE BRIDE” FEBRUARY 18, 2022 SCRIPTURE AND SONG

GENESIS 24:60

60. And they blessed Rebekah, and said to her, You are our sister; become the mother of thousands of ten thousands, and let your posterity possess the gate of their enemies. Amp.

This is a picture of the Holy Spirit and how He works. Abraham sent his servant to find a wife for his son Isaac. They did not let their children choose their mate. They knew it was more important to let the Lord choose as it would affect their posterity. They had faith to believe the Lord was with them in their actions as He was greatly in control.

They did not force Rebekah to go with Abraham’s servant. She could still say no. She had no idea what Isaac was like, but she went. She had faith to believe this was God’s will for her. They all prayed about their future. When you put your life in God’s Hands, He is faithful to do His part.

Abraham knew Isaac was a miracle child being born to Him and Sarah after they were past the childbearing years. So, he knew God had a plan for him with a special wife set apart for Him. How blessed they were to have their lives set apart and planned by God for His purpose.

Though she was only the mother of Jacob and Essau, she has many, many children from their offspring. Israel came from her. All 12 tribes of Israel came from her. She is truly the mother of Israel though she has shared the position with many others along the way.

Galatians 4:26 But the Jerusalem above, (the Messianic kingdom of Christ), is free and she is our mother.

Who is the spiritual mother of Israel but the bride of Christ? It is not from the physical Israel that we will be saved from eternal death. We know Jesus is the only way to salvation. It is only by His blood that we are set free from our sins and allowed into heaven.

Just what is Jerusalem? It is the capital of Israel. It is in Judah meaning praise. It is where the temple was built. It is where the arc of the covenant was kept. It is where the priests offered Holy service to the Lord in the animal sacrifices. It is where the people were called to worship the Lord because that is where His presence was.

These are all the characteristics of the bride of Christ. There are many in the body of Christ who are saved. All do not get the victory. All do not get the same reward. All are important and have a special spot for them no one else can fill.

The Father has the same plan for His Son. He has chosen a bride for His son and sends the Holy Spirit to ask if she will come along with Him to meet her betrothed. She has the option of answering the call or not. She must drink out of the same cup He drank. She must wait for their house to be ready for them to dwell together for eternity. Then when the Father says, “It is ready go and get Your bride,” He will come back.

Revelation 21:9 …He said, Come with me! I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.

10. Then in the Spirit he conveyed me away to a vast and lofty mountain, and exhibited to me the holy (hallowed, consecrated) city of Jerusalem descending out of heaven from God,

11. Clothed in God’s glory — in all its splendor and radiance. The luster of it resembled a rare and most precious jewel, like jasper, shining clear as crystal.
