PSALM 63:4-6
4. Thus will I bless Thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in Thy name.
5. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise Thee with joyful lips:
6. When I remember Thee upon my bed, and meditate on Thee in the night watches. KJV.
DEFINITIONS
Marrow -c) the richest or choicest part.
Fatness -c) abundance, ashes of sacrifice.
This is a Psalm of David when he was in the wilderness of Judah. He was in a dry land remembering the goodness of the Lord. He was thirsting for the presence of God. He was remembering His days as a shepherd boy and how simple life was. He had no enemies chasing after him. His concern was for the sheep alone.
He remembered how it was to be satisfied by the Lord. His lovingkindness is better than life. His lips shall praise Thee! He will not forget all the Lord’s songs that He has been given. They filled his soul with the fatness because he was giving the best or choicest part of his life to the Lord to use. He knows one day he will receive abundance for his sacrifice.
He never ceased trusting in the Lord. He had enemies telling lies about him, chasing him but he knew he would come out in victory. How does he know he will be victorious and not killed by his enemy?
This lifetime is a testing ground. He is testing our heart to see what we desire the most. He will give us what we want even when it is wrong. We must desire the good thing, or we may lose all.
Psalm 65:4 Blessed is the man whom Thou choosest, and causest to approach unto Thee, that he may dwell in Thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of Thy house, even of Thy holy temple. KJV.
When the Lord does the choosing there can be no doubt of the victory. He knows what we need to build the faith within us to fight the battles we will face. He will satisfy our soul with His great love that cannot be duplicated.
Once you have tasted the loving-kindness of the Lord, there is nothing else that will satisfy. Whatever battle you face will be fueled by the desire for the Lord. When the soul is satisfied, your need is met.
Psalm 107:8-9 Oh, that men would praise and confess to the Lord his goodness and loving-kindness, and His wonderful works to the children of men!
9. For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with good.
