And they shall no more be a prey to the nations, nor shall the beasts of the earth devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and none shall make them afraid (in the day of the Messiah’s reign). Amp.
There have been many books written about “Gog and Magog.” Most speak of them being an enemy in the latter days. Yes, they are an enemy but not for the latter days that we face.
Revelation 20 begins with Satan being hurled into the bottomless pit for 1000 years. This is the beginning of Jesus’ Millennial Reign on the earth. When the 1000 years are up Satan is let loose one more time. It says in verse 8, He will go forth to deceive and seduce and lead astray the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, that is, Gog and Magog, to muster them for war; their number is as the sand of the sea.
Then fire comes down from heaven and destroys them. This is the only time Gog and Magog are mentioned in the New Testament. This happens after the Millennium. This will be no threat to us at this time.
Ezekiel 38-39 speaks repeatedly about the latter days and it being a time when His people are at rest and dwell securely. They dwell in a land of unwalled villages because they are not afraid. At this time there are no wild animals, only peace because of Jesus. What a wonderful time to be alive.
This is what Ezekiel 34:28 is saying. It is a time of peace and safety like none we have ever known. When has Israel ever dwelt safely, and none have made them afraid? This has not happened thus far in this world.
Isaiah 65:17 For, behold I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind.
18. But be glad and rejoice forever in that which I create; for behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.
19. And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and be glad in My people; and the sound of weeping shall be no more heard in it, nor the cry of distress.
He wipes away all pain and sorrow. There is only rejoicing and gladness because He is there. And still in the midst of all of His goodness there are enemies to be dealt with. So, He wipes them away and then the final great White Throne Judgment and the Eternal Forever begins!
Isaiah 65:25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox; and dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt or destroy in all My Holy Mount Zion, says the Lord. Amp.
